OUTSEED Connect · Windows 0.1.0
Set up OUTSEED Connect: a beginner’s guide
Download the app, link your PC, then add an address. No terminal or JSON file editing is needed for this setup.
MCP means Model Context Protocol: here, it lets OUTSEED tools request the information you permit. The platform runs in OUTSEED; the Windows app connects your systems.
Before you start
You need a Windows 10 or 11 64-bit PC, Internet, an OUTSEED engineer account, and permission to install software on that PC. If Windows asks for an administrator account you do not have, ask your IT team.
Your PC must be able to reach the server you want to connect. Turn on your company VPN if needed. You can start with one server; local AI is optional.
Unsigned beta: Windows may show “unknown publisher” or block installation. Download only from outseed.me. If your company blocks unsigned software, ask your administrator for help. Do not turn off Windows protection.
Automated checks have passed. Full installed-service installation, reboot, upgrade and uninstall testing, and compatibility with your exact vCenter or AI version, still need validation.
1. Install the Windows app
- Click Download setup.exe above.
- Open your Windows Downloads folder and double-click setup.exe.
- Check that you obtained the file from outseed.me. Follow the setup wizard and approve the Windows installation request if you are authorized to do so.
- At the end, open OUTSEED Connect. You can also find it later in the Windows Start menu.
2. Link this PC to your OUTSEED account
- On the website, sign in with your engineer account and open Gateway & ChangeProof.
- In “Connect your PC. Use MCP from this website.”, click Connect Windows app. Confirm your identity if asked.
- Click Copy Windows pairing token. This code starts with
OUTSEED-PAIR-. It works once and expires after ten minutes. Keep it private. - Switch to the Windows app. Paste the code into the box to the left of Connect, then click that button.
Back on the website, Windows connector online means your PC is reachable. Allow a few seconds. If you had no hosted gateway, this step creates your one seven-day trial; it cannot restart an old trial. Only one PC can be linked to this gateway at a time.
3. Add a server or an AI connection
In the same box in the Windows app, replace the pairing code with the address of the system you want to connect, then click Connect. These are examples: replace them with addresses for your own systems.
- Linux SSH:
ssh://linux.example.com— ask your administrator for the server name and a read-only login. - vCenter:
https://vcenter.example.com— the vCenter server address. - Ollama:
http://localhost:11434— if Ollama is running on this same PC, using its usual port. - LM Studio:
http://localhost:1234/v1— if its local server is enabled on this PC at this port. - localhost means “this Windows PC”. For AI on another computer, use its network address and the port supplied by its administrator.
For Linux or vCenter, enter the server login when the app asks. Use a read-only account; the Linux root account is refused. Do not paste this password into the OUTSEED website.
For local AI, first start Ollama or the LM Studio local server and load a model. Entering an address does not download a model. If the app does not recognize the connection, click More options and choose Linux SSH, vCenter or AI.
If an SSH fingerprint or certificate is shown, ask your server administrator to verify that identity before confirming it. A changed identity blocks the connection. The app also accepts a company certificate authority certificate.
4. Check that it works
- Keep the PC awake and connected to the Internet. Return to Gateway & ChangeProof on the website.
- Your connection should appear under Your Windows connections.
- For Linux or vCenter, click Read overview. A response should appear under “Result”.
- For AI, choose it under Local AI connection, tick the servers it may inspect, type a question, then click Ask through OUTSEED.
Try: “Summarize the selected servers’ health and cite the information used.” Your model must be running and able to handle the request. Review its answer: connector/model-reported information is not independent verification.
Everyday use: pause, resume and change PCs
The app installs a background service, so closing its window is different from disconnecting the PC. To stop website requests, tick Pause remote access from the website in the app. Untick it to resume.
The PC cannot read anything while asleep, powered off, disconnected from the Internet, or unable to reach the server/VPN. Your AI server must also stay running: the connector does not keep another application running after Windows sign-out.
Forget selected removes a saved connection. Export settings saves settings without passwords. On the website, Disconnect Windows device revokes the PC. Previously issued offline permissions expire within five minutes at most.
To change PCs, install the app on the new PC and generate and use a new pairing code. This replaces the old PC. Reinstalling or changing PCs does not reset your trial.
Fix a problem
The code expired or was already used
On the website, click Connect Windows app again, copy the new code and paste it into the app. Do not reuse a screenshot or an old code.
Windows connector offline
Wake the PC, check Internet and open OUTSEED Connect from Start. Allow a few seconds. If the service is unavailable, ask your administrator to check OUTSEED MCP Connector in Windows Services.
Server not found or not reachable
Check the address and port with the server administrator. Turn on the VPN and check that the remote service is running. For AI on this PC, start its local server.
Login or certificate refused
Check the read-only account, password or SSH key. For a changed certificate or host key, have its identity verified; do not confirm an unfamiliar identity.
The AI list is empty or the answer fails
Add the AI address in the Windows app, start its server and load a model. Check that the model can handle the request and the connection is online.
Trial or access expired
Open USDC billing & auto-renew in your workspace. Verified payment or eligible service credits are required after the trial. Reinstalling the app does not extend access.
When asking for help, include Windows 10/11, OUTSEED version 0.1.0 and the exact message. Remove passwords, private keys and pairing codes from screenshots. Contact OUTSEED.
Where does my information go?
Server passwords stay encrypted on the PC. Connection labels, model names, questions, requested evidence and answers pass through OUTSEED. Your model runs at the address you configured. Choose labels that do not disclose sensitive information.
This beta reads information; it does not expose arbitrary commands or change your infrastructure. It supports Linux SSH, vCenter REST and Ollama/OpenAI-compatible AI servers, with up to sixteen connections.
